Hanifa Hudson, formerly known as B-Girl Bubbles, rose to fame in the 1980's as the UK's first female break dancer.
Her artwork known as 'Art Breaker' is a unique, creative way of painting on to canvas without the use of paintbrushes or aerosols.
B-Boying or Breakdancing techniques are the methods used to create shapes and patterns with paint applied to her hands and feet.
The movements are accompanied by Hanifa's spoken word, therapeutic ambient sounds of nature and jazz, with live African percussion performed by 'Kalilo'.
Each dance step, twist and spin movement displays patterns of hand and foot prints, as a step-by-step guide of the dance on canvas, mapping the choreography.
For the first time both street dance and contemporary art worlds collide creating stunning abstract art on canvasses right in front of your eyes.
This whole performance is supported by live African drumming by 'Kalilo', expressing the true root of break beats and funk - the inspiration to Hanifa's movement and the key to B-Boying on canvas.
To witness a 15 minute extract, Art Breaker will be part of the Decibel International Performing Arts Showcase 2007, on Friday 7th September from 11.15 -11.45am at the Patrick Centre.
